Item Description

Any fan of history or politics who wants to begin collecting political memorabilia needs Ted Hake's Price Guides--they are the standard for the serious collector.

This lot includes Hake's richly illustrated guide that covers a sampling of campaign pins, but also ribbons, postcards, watch fobs, license plates and a host of 3-D items made for political campaigns. It also includes a comprehensive Appendix listing every candidate from every party in every presidential election from 1789 to 1988.

This lot also includes three 3-inch buttons and two 1-5/8" buttons from Hillary Clinton's 2008 primary campaign. They are all from N.G. Slater Corp. in NYC, and have the union bug on the edge. N.G. Slater is a longstanding official manufacturer of political campaign buttons.

If Hillary Clinton ever actually attains the office of the President, these pins will be highly collectable, as are all primary pins from candidates who at first do not get their party's nomination (like Ronald Reagan in 1976) and later go on to become President.

The one with Bill and Hillary together is likely to become especially collectable because it would be the only button showing two Presidents who were married to each other.

There's also a 3" anti-Clinton pin from 2008 and an anti-Bush pin that references (Bill) Clinton.

Last but not least, there is a 2-1/4" pin from Barack Obama's 2008 campaign, "Deadheads Grateful for Obama."

This is a nice and affordable way to start a hobby that teaches history while being a fun way to invest. Donor suggests also joining APIC: American Political Items Collectors if you want to learn more about authentic political memorabilia and this rewarding hobby.
