Item Description

This item is signed by Michael Collins, Buzz Aldrin, Alan Bean, John Glenn and James Lovell.

Michael Collins was selected as part of the third group of fourteen astronauts in 1963; he flew in space twice. His first spaceflight was Gemini 10, in which he and Command Pilot John Young performed two rendezvous with different spacecraft and Collins undertook two EVAs. His second spaceflight was as the command module pilot for Apollo 11.

Buzz Aldrin was the Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing in history. On July 20, 1969, he was the second human to set foot on the Moon, following mission commander Neil Armstrong. He is also a retired United States Air Force pilot. Aldrin is currently the oldest living moonwalker, following the death of Neil Armstrong in August of 2012. He is also the oldest of the 12 astronauts to walk on the moon.

Alan Bean was selected to become an astronaut by NASA in 1963 as part of Astronaut Group 3. He made his first flight into space aboard Apollo 12, the second manned mission to land on the Moon, at the age of thirty-seven years in November 1969. During this mission, Bean became the fourth human to walk on the Moon.

John Glenn was the first American to orbit the Earth and the third American in space. Glenn was a combat aviator in the Marine Corps and one of the Mercury Seven, which were the elite U.S. military test pilots selected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to operate the experimental Mercury spacecraft and become the first American astronauts.

James Lovell is a former NASA astronaut and a retired captain in the United States Navy, most famous as the commander of the Apollo 13 mission, which suffered a critical failure en route to the Moon but was brought back safely to Earth by the efforts of the crew and mission control. Lovell was also the command module pilot of Apollo 8, the first Apollo mission to enter lunar orbit.
