Item Description
Jewelsong is an eclectic women's vocal ensemble who share the joy of music through inspirational songs from many different spiritual traditions. Betsy Bickel, Farrunnissa Lila Rosa, Marilyn Grubbs, and Sofianna Sue-Anne Solem have been musicians most of their lives and have been singing together since 2002. They perform regularly at faith gatherings around the Triangle, the Carrboro Music Festival, and the Oasis Cafe in Carrboro. They have performed at the NC Environmental Educators Conference, the Carrboro lunchbox series of concerts, and the Art and the Feminine Divine project in Durham, as well as many other special events throughout the Triangle. Jewelsong was honored to be the featured guest artists at the "Passion of the Mother" ArtShrine grand opening in 2004. They have composed and/or arranged most of their songs.
Everything Real was released in May 2012. Most of the 16 songs on this album are original compositions, inspiring listeners not only to focus on the great beauty life has to offer, but also to be good stewards of the planet. Included are songs that are thoughtful, upbeat, meditative, evocative, inspiring, and humorous, made especially powerful by the artistry of our guest musicians.
