Item Description

DESCRIPTION Make learning the rivers & lakes of the Continental USA engaging and beautiful for all ages with this one-of-a-kind map puzzle. Digitally crafted then laser cut, its creation draws upon the power of digital fabrication and the timelessness of hand craftsmanship. These map puzzles are as irresistible to play with as they are informative and beautiful. People young and old can't help but assemble them, finding new relationships between land masses and a better understanding how our world fits together. Unlike many of my other puzzles, this one does not have magnets. This helps keep the cost of production down and allows you to dream up your own ideas for how to use it. Keep it as a regular puzzle that's assembled on a table or use the pieces in another creation altogether. Etched onto the pieces' fronts are the major rivers, lakes and reservoirs of each state. Included with this puzzle are the five great lakes with a special etch pattern on their fronts to identify them. Etched onto the backs are the states' two letter abbreviations. The orientation of the text indicates which direction is north (i.e., when the text is oriented ledgibly, north is up). Each of the 51 pieces is either a state or great lake except for Michigan's Upper Peninsula (which is a piece but not a state). Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Long Island are combined into one piece with etched lines showing the borders. The same goes for Delaware and Maryland.
