Item Description
Published by the Adirondack Mountain Club Inc. in 1992 and written in celebration of the 1992 Adirondack Park Centennial.
How the people of New York found, changed and preserved the Adirondacks.
New York's Adirondack park is the largest American park outside of Alaska. Once the country's most popular resort area, this 9,000-square-mile region of mountains, forests and lakes has long been divided between private and public land. Loved and feared, explored and exploited, restored and preserved, still controversial after a hundred years as a park, the Adiirondacks remain one of the world's special areas.
Written for chidlren ages 10 and up but suitable for all ages, Our Wilderness introduced the landscape, people and ideas that have made the Adirondacks unique. It is illustrated with many rare photographs.
