As a gentle, hands-on technique, Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is an assessment tool, as well as a corrective and preventative treatment. CST can facilitate subtle shifts in the different tissues of the body. These shifts manifest as a softening and releasing of tension, a realigning of structure, and a freeing of compression. During a typical session, the client rests fully clothed on a massage table (for babies and children, depending on age, they can sit on parent's lap or lay with them on table), the therapist assesses the craniosacral rhythm with her hands and uses gentle techniques to help the client's system correct potential or existing sources of pain and dysfunction. CST sets the stage for the body to most efficiently use its own power to heal.
Amy Baker has been in private family practice for 14 years. Formerly a professional modern dancer and currently involved in various physical pursuits, she brings an intimate knowledge of the demands of the active body to her work.
For her work with babies, children and pregnant mothers, Amy brings over 10 years of practice in Craniosacral Therapy for Pediatrics and Prenatal Massage Therapy, as well as her own experience as a mother of two.
