Item Description
Saving can be fun! That was the point of these mechanical banks designed to entertain children while encouraging thriftiness. The original banks were produced in the late 1800's and these reproductions produced using the same processes were made in the 1950's and 1960's. The bank is made from cast iron, bottom bears the mark "Reproduced From Original Collection of The Book Of Knowledge." The mechanics of the cow kicking over the pail of milk and the milk man are functional; original paint is faded. A bit of whimsy from another era.
Details: Cast iron bank with functional mechanics; original paint is faded. Measures 9 1/2" long and 5" tall at the highest point. Bottom marked "Reproduced From Original Collection of The Book Of Knowledge."
