Item Description
Spend a week during the "Color Tour" in a circa 1900 (newly renovated) home in October of 2014 in Leland, Michigan. Historically the house began as the Parsonage for the Lutheran Church across the street, and later became home to a locally famous Native American teacher/healer. The house is located high on a hill (and named Holy Hill for that reason), overlooking the town park to the rear, and is just three blocks to Lake Michigan, a few long blocks past the Leland CC to North Lake Leelanau, and two blocks into the heart of Leland itself! You will have the comforts of home while enjoying the fabulous sights of the fall colors at the height of the Northern Michigan "Leaf Season!"
About a half hour northwest of Traverse City, Leland is a vital but quaint town with eclectic restaurants, lots of shopping possibilities, and fresh fish caught daily, sold at the in-town fishery. Leelanau County features over 20 remarkable wineries as well as vodka and cider breweries, all which are easily found with a guide, or private tours can be easily arranged. Michigan is of course known for it's fruit production (especially cherries, blueberries and apples), so fresh pies and other delectables baked in the area will definitely entice!
The house features 4 upstairs bedrooms: 2 with double beds, 1 with a queen bed, and 1 with two twins. There are 2 full bathrooms upstairs as well; 1 with a tiled step-in shower and 1 with a tub/shower combination. The first floor has a large living room featuring decorative stained glass in the windows, a wonderful gas stove for added warmth, a futon sofa and other seating, and an oversized, expandable dining table. The Parson's office (TV room) also features stained glass, an has a queen sofa-bed, lots of other seating and a television. The kitchen is cheery with red Elmira appliances, a breakfast nook, and is fully outfitted to cook, serve, wine and dine! A half bath rounds out the area. The house also features lots of antiques as well as whimsy, and is ideal for 2 or 3 couples, or a group of friends!
The house will have Wi-Fi and cable as well as a backyard grill and picnic table. Parking is available on the street in front of the house or in the lower back yard, where a boat could also be parked if desired.
Plans can be made closer to October of 2014 in order to choose a good week! The Rental Agent for the property will work with you to make your stay an enjoyable experience! The value of this Color Tour Getaway is $2000.00
