The Longley family of Shirley, MA were the subject of an article in the Nashua River Watershed Association's most recent newsletter, a family that has lived on the land and farmed in Shirley for eleven generations. Melvin Proctor Longley, Sr. (1920-1997) was a dairy farmer, historian, craftsperson, and a poet. This special edition of his poetry, complete with black and white photos, was created to benefit Longley Acres Conservation Area, the 73-acre farm homestead that has been preserved for the enjoyment of future generations.
