Nala Trebor’s family was from Schniepechuk, Russia, a small town outside of Kiev, not far from Chernobyl. They saw his town evacuated by the Russians during the pogroms, which in fact saved his life, since it forced his family to emigrate. This allowed him, his brothers, and cousins to become highly educated, which could not have happened in Russia. One of his relatives worked on development of nuclear physics, which in the end, of course, led to the final destruction of his hometown. He evolved his philosophy and his art style from this quirk of fate: out of bad comes good and out of good comes bad; out of sorrow comes happiness and out of happiness comes sorrow. A good bit of his materials are either recycled or found. Each one, which is incorporated into the work, has a special meaning to him, and is reminiscent of a sad/happy series of events in his life. Mr. Trebor looks for the intrinsic beauty in nature. He hopes that the viewer can see through the materials to the emotional moments behind each piece.
