Item Description

"Radiant Ribbon" is an 11x14 framed and matted electronic painting by Debbie Rosenfeld Fine Art Photography.

About the work, she says "I am currently working with digital photography and am constantly striving to push this new and changing technology to its maximum potential. I am using software in lieu of burning and dodging in the darkroom. I have fully embraced the powers that this new technology offers; but I use them with restraint. I believe in using digital enhancement techniques only to heighten the experience of the viewer. Recently, at the request of corporate clients, I have begun to experiment and take bolder steps.

"I constantly strive to decode the visual information that surrounds us and often goes unnoticed. I try to isolate color, pattern, light, shadow, and texture to capture a 2-dimensional composite that communicates my experience to the viewer. I have found that selective removal of color, altered color, and added color enable me to take images to the next level. I strive to create "moments in space and time" that existed only for me and share them with others.

"The purpose of my work is to inspire people to slow down from their hectic pace, even if only for a moment or two. I want to help people notice the details that give our surroundings their richness and beauty. These experiences are there every day, though most of us are too busy to stop and appreciate them."

From the Artist:

I worked in the World Trade Center for 16 years. 9/11 changed my world forever. Now that I rebuilt my reality, here in Ohio, I have re-imagined my life and now work as a full-time artist.

I still can't make sense of the tragic events of 2001. However, I have realized that since none of us is able to change what happened, the best that any one individual can do is to accept the experience and move forward, trying to make some positive life changes. My work is now about finding beauty in everyday scenes - where it remains hidden in plain sight.
