Artist Statement:
In an effort to make distinctive work, Gavin Bruce is driven to expand his intelligence and capacity by cultivating a “Way of Seeing” that arises from life experience. With aims to identify growth possibilities in unexpected places from outside of the art world, he looks for ways to create encoded ideas that provide hidden abstractions. As an inventor and discoverer, his delusion of reality is often revealed through a stream of consciousness while trying to obtain a controlled focus over being both complex and simple.
After 10 years of Mortgage Banking, Gavin recognizes the benefits of reinventing his thinking patterns to professionally communicate his passions. He is motivated to study the early “pivotal” work of breakthrough artists to identify how they solved problems and what approaches produced attainment. He desires to study and incorporate significant historic approaches to legitimize the methods of his own works.
