Support the resident teen ensemble at Central Square Theater.

Your $100 raise-your-paddle bid makes it possible for young people aged 13-20 to create theater together and in tandem with community-based organizations and to showcase their work throughout Cambridge and Boston and on the main stage at Central Square Theater. A socio-economically, culturally and ethnically diverse ensemble, Youth Underground(YU) provides a platform for members to understand the perspective of others, develop their own perspectives, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves as they begin to identify as artists. Most importantly, YU helps young people define themselves as agents of change within their immediate neighborhood and beyond. 

Currently Youth Underground is performing its newest play, Crossing Borders: Who Does That?  Previous productions include Six Years Online, and Money Matters.

For each performance project, YU uses investigative theater techniques to create a performance script.  With the guidance of the staff playwright, members research and develop a theme by interviewing each other, family, friends, community leaders and experts.
