Item Description
Bid on this item to win the chance to sit down for lunch with Gubernatorial Candidate, Eliot Cutler!
Throughout a distinguished career that has taken him from his hometown of Bangor to the nation’s capital, around the world and home again to Maine, Eliot Cutler has maintained an abiding love for his state and a commitment to helping Maine fulfill its promise as a place of unrivaled natural beauty and boundless opportunity. A lawyer, public servant, and successful businessman, Cutler has earned a reputation as a visionary leader, passionate advocate and pragmatic problem-solver.
In the 2010 race for Governor, where Eliot went from a political unknown to within little more than a percentage point of defeating frontrunner Paul LePage, he was endorsed by virtually every major newspaper in Maine.
The state’s largest daily newspaper said Eliot was the one candidate who “has the potential to bridge philosophical divides, heal political wounds and conquer daunting problems that are confronting state government and Maine’s overburdened taxpayers.”
Another leading newspaper said that “Eliot Cutler is the only candidate with the vision and skills to match Maine’s challenges.”
As a public servant, Eliot helped craft America’s foundational environmental laws and managed the policies and budgets of federal energy, natural resources, science and environmental agencies.
As a strategist and lawyer for governments, business corporations and citizens groups, Eliot helped clients grapple with worldwide legal and public policy problems during a career in three law firms and two countries that spanned more than 35 years.
As an active entrepreneur, businessman and investor, Eliot has helped start and manage successful businesses, served on the boards of directors of private and public companies and advised and managed private and public philanthropic organizations.
Eliot is a graduate of Harvard College and the law school of Georgetown University. He has been married for 40 years to Melanie Stewart Cutler, M.D. The Cutlers live in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Eliot and Melanie have two children, Abigail Cutler and Zachary Cutler.
