Item Description
Collect a 1998 Allen Toussaint Commemorative Postal Cachet. Recognizing Toussaint's induction to the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, this cachet features a detailed pen and ink collage of Toussaint and green foil print with a treble clef cancellation and a Kwanza stamp. Total production: 2500.
The U.S. Post Office issues specialized commemoratives for important cultural contributions that are uniquely American. In 1989 the Post Office issued its first Jazz Fest cachet and has issued one every year since, each one featuring a New Orleans jazz artist. The cachets are highly sought after, and the value as collectable and framed piece increases every year. Cachets are preserved through a cardboard insert to keep them rigid, and a clear cover to keep out moisture.
