Salons
The Not-Just Shakespeare Salon with Professor Barry Nass
- Item Number
- 131
- Estimated Value
- 150 USD
Item Description
This year we’re shaking up the Shakespeare salon by looking at religious verse written by two of the most extraordinary poets of the early modern period, John Donne and George Herbert. We’ll be discussing two of Donne’s most celebrated and tumultuous Holy Sonnets and some of the deceptively quiet, devotional poems from Herbert’s The Temple. Professor Nass teaches in the English Department at Hofstra University, and every year his Kane Street Salon sells out. He and his wife Ann Powell live in Park Slope. Their sons Jacob and Eli are graduates of the Hebrew School.
