Extreme Tikkun Olam with a Doctor Without Borders
Dr. Carrie Teicher is a surgical epidemiologist who uses her passions for medicine and tikkun olam in her work at Doctors Without Borders/Medicins Sans Frontiers. Dr. Teicher will share stories and photos of her travels and work from the more violent and impoverished corners of the globe.
After graduating from Barnard College, Carrie served with the Peace Corps in Mali. Carrie went on to earn graduate degrees at Columbia and the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. Her work focuses on humanitarian medicine, specifically in sectors related to trauma, surgery or communicable disease. She currently holds academic appointments at CUNY and Harvard. Carrie and her husband David joined the synagogue last summer with their little boy Franklin Zvi.
