You are bidding on a Mushroom Extravaganza Basket from Gourmet Mushrooms Inc! - organic and locally grown in Sebastopol.

Winning bidder will receive a wicker basket with four pounds (4 lbs.) of 7 varieties of organic, locally grown, specialty mushrooms.

"Includes all seven of our organic varieties in an extra large wicker basket. Along with the Trumpet Royale, Velvet Pioppini, Forest Nameko, Alba Clamshell and Brown Clamshell, the Mushroom Extravaganza basket also includes Maitake Frondosa and our exclusive Nebrodini Bianco."

Guide to specialty mushrooms:

  • Alba Clamshell - Pure creamy white. Crunchy texture holds well. Lightly nuttier, shellfish flavor with mineral notes. Excellent with stir-fried vegetables and seafood. (2)*
  • Brown Clamshell - Marbled, mocha brown caps. Slightly milder in flavor than the Alba. Use in similar dishes as Alba. Also excellent in soups. (2)
  • Trumpet Royale - Firm, meaty porcini-like texture. Mild forest flavor. Great cut in halves or quarters and grilled. Delicious in cream of mushroom soup. (3)
  • Forest Nameko - rich, lightly-fruity flavor. Naturally waxy caps. Adds both crunch and silkiness. (2)
  • Velvet Pioppini - Chocolate brown caps on creamy stems. Well-suited to all Italian pasta dishes, grilled meats, red wine sauce. (1)
  • Nebrodini Bianco - Our newest mushroom. Wonderful cut into slabs, then grilled or sauteed. Try with spaghetti and clam sauce. (1)
  • Maitake Frondosa - Leaf-like bracts distinguish this wonderfully fragrant and versatile variety. Rich flavor. Eggs, soups, stews. (2)
