You will get a fascinating backstage look at one of the world’s premiere performing arts organizations, including visits to the scenic and carpentry shops, costumes, rehearsal rooms, and stage area. You just might witness one of the great performers rehearsing!
Tony Giovannetti is the "Boss of Electrical Construction" which means he runs the shop where everything gets built from the technologically intricate sets to the titles. Tony has been working for 33 years at the Metropolitan Opera, so he knows every nook and cranny of the building. He also does the lighting design for the New York Philharmonic’s performances in parks across the city. For the past nine years, Tony has taught Lighting Design and Production at CUNY College of Technology (Citytech). He lives in Cobble Hill with his wife Elise Bernhardt.
