About Brookline Tai Chi:

Brookline Tai Chi school was established in 1992 to teach the Chinese movement arts of Tai Chi and Chi Gung, among others, to promote health and well-being.   Brookline Tai Chi is dedicated to helping you learn the principles of a coherent system of self health care that has been practiced for thousands of years.

What is Tai Chi?

Have you ever seen a group of people in a park (often elder Chinese people) performing a gentle flowing progression of movements? They were probably doing Tai Chi.  Tai Chi originally was developed as a martial art. But today most people practice its movements to help them relax and improve their health.

A Brief History of BTC

Brookline Tai Chi was established by Bill Ryan in 1992 as a center for teaching the Chinese movement arts of Wu Style Tai Chi, Chi Gung, and Ba Gua to promote health and well-being.

As of summer 2005, Brookline Tai Chi is run as a program of Water Way Arts for Health and Energy Inc., a non-profit organization committed to equal opportunity.

The teachers at BTC study these arts with Master B.K. Frantzis, an American who currently resides in California. Frantzis studied these arts with the late Grandmaster Liu Hung Chieh of Beijing.

We strive to present these arts in forms consistent with a lineage of Taoist Water Method meditation and energy arts practice that dates back over 2,000 years. Liu inherited this lineage and passed it on to Frantzis with permission to teach in the West.
