Item Description

Calling all Korean Drama fans--be the winning bidder on these 3 exclusive SBS Series DVD box sets from KFBD TV!

The late 1990s saw an increase in the popularity of South Korean culture and many got hooked on Korean TV dramas because they depicted family relationships, contemporary romances or historical pageantry.  The fascination with South Korean culture is such a prevalent force especially Asia, that the phenomenon has its own term: Hallyu, or the Korean Wave.  Get your fix of the Korean TV drama with these three DVD box sets:

“Money War”
This TV drama is all about love, honor, sacrifice and a lesson to life. Geum Nara (Park Shin Yang) is a ruthless private moneylender and he meets Suh Joo Hee when problems with her family's debts arise. Joo Hee is filled with righteousness. They later fall in love with each other. Joo Hee and Nara tries to figure out what is behind the secret life of Chief Ma has and the one that could destroy theirs. Competition between banks and loan sharks are getting tense and could start a war between money.

The box set contains 7 DVDs with episodes 1-20 plus bonus features, in original Korean language with subtitles in English and Japanese.

“Bad Guy”
Jang Hyuk, who made a stunning career comeback with 2007 sleeper hit Thank You, stars in the new SBS melodrama Robber. The story paints the remarkable transformation of a down-on-luck swindler into a man of integrity through his discovery of love and happiness brought on by a naive but high-spirited single mom. Jang Hyuk, who became both a husband and a father in 2008, delivers a superb performance as a shrewd slick-talking con-man who makes a cheap living swindling money from love-hungry women. My Girl's feisty and bubbly Lee Da Hae conveys much realism in her portrayal of a headstrong widow, earning the actress the nickname of "queen of tears". Amidst the dark despair, love ultimately prevails in Robber, guiding the two wounded souls onto the path of healing. Written by Kim Kyu Wan who previously brought us Piano and Spring Days, this touching drama also provides plenty of humorous moments, touching on such topics as homosexuality and middle-aged romance.

The box set contains 6 DVDs with episodes 1-16, in original Korean language with subtitles in English.

“On Air”

Top actress Oh Seung-ah (Kim Ha-neul) refuses to accept the Best Actress award at an awards ceremony after finding out that she is to share the prize with another actress. In the process, she makes a fool out of Seo Young-eun (Song Yun-a) who was there to hand out the award. Seo Young-eun is an extremely popular writer who has written corny dramas that have gained top ratings. But now she feels a need to change. She wants to write a drama series with depth. So she chooses to write about a drama that centers around a mental hospital. To get ideas for her script, she visits a mental institution only to run into Lee Gyeong-min (Park Yong-ha). Gyeong-min is conscious about the strange woman who keeps looking at him. He may look like someone from a well-to-do family but only the opposite is true. His family is very poor, and he’s the only breadwinner in his family. Young-eun and the young director, Gyeong-min agree to work on a drama series together. And Seung-ah is to join them!

The box set contains 7 DVDs with episodes 1-21, in original Korean language with subtitles in English and Japanese.
