Join Platypus Wine Tours, a 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner, on a small group guided Join-In Wine Tour. This experience provides an intimate, yet social and lighthearted way to see and taste the best that the Napa and Sonoma Valleys have to offer. You'll visit four charming, hidden gem wineries (many of which are family owned) and enjoy a delightful picnic lunch, an informed tour guide and taste some of the world's best wines.

This is our social tour. You'll board a "small group" shuttle, usually with eight to twelve wine-interested adventurers on board visiting an ever-changing selection of smaller, intimate wineries ideal for individual travelers, couples and small groups of friendly people. Your guide/driver will point out notable landmarks and wineries along the way. You'll tour a winery, take in some extraordinary views, maybe stroll through the vines, get a flavor of wine country history, hear stories and learn about wine making. This in not a boilerplate tour; it's different every day, and it's fun!

The Join-In Wine Tour includes a very tasty picnic lunch served by your tour guide/driver on the grounds of one of the wineries. We also serve a cheese platter and plenty of bottled water on board the bus.

Item Special Note

Tasting fees at the wineries are not included and are charged extra by the wineries. Our tours usually last from about 10:30am to 4:30 or 5:00pm.

Our tour itineraries are customized every day by the guide/driver, based on the best selection of wineries and experiences available for that day. We are very fond of smaller, family-owned, historic, off-the-beaten path wineries, but there are no strict rules. We are careful to avoid taking people to places they may have already visited.

You can have your choice of Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley or the Russian River/North Sonoma County area.

Pick-Up Locations

If you are staying in a hotel or inn close to the wine region you'd like to tour, we will most likely be able to pick you up and drop you off at that place. Otherwise, we'll meet you at a pre-arranged public place that has parking.
