Item Description
It is customary in traditional Jewish homes to mark the wall in the direction of mizrah to facilitate proper prayer. For this purpose, people use artistic wall plaques inscribed with the word mizrah and scriptural passages.
This mizrah in particular features an elegantly framed image of the Beit Hamikdash floating above the wailing wall. Gold accents surround the central text.
This particular branch of the art of calligraphy was invented in Spain about 700 years ago, spread to other parts of Europe, and later to Eretz Israel, especially to the spiritual center of Safed.
