A Perfect Everyday Red From France
We’re always looking for value wines that display clean and ripe fruit flavors along with soft tannins that are perfect “house wines” to pop and pour anytime. The latest and hottest bargain to come in is The Gnome Knows Grenache from the south of France.
The The Gnome Knows Grenache comes from selected vineyards in the Languedoc region in the south of France not too far from the Southern Rhone Valley where Grenache is the key grape varietal that makes up Cotes du Rhone and Chateauneuf du Pape.
Winemaker's Notes:
Deep, rich and concentrated with the Grenache grape showcasing its plum and lavender nose. The flavors are abundant with black cherries Asian spice and red fruits. A good finish with a touch of vanilla and nutmeg. Perfect with choice cuts of beef on the grill.

Raised in Mendoza, Argentina, Muñoz Oca came under the tutelage of his grandfather, cellar master at Bodegas Toso winery, at a young age. The older man instilled in him a love and respect for wine, as well as for his family’s Spanish culture, that was to become the root of a lifelong passion for winemaking. He picked his first grapes at the age of eight, later took an after-school job in a wine cellar, and spent his vacations helping his grandfather with harvest. |
This is a very good value in maturing, authentic Chianti that has good density. Expect ripe aromas and flavours of sundried tomato, leather and herbs, with a touch of amaro and spice. This is mid-weight, fairly dense and firm with some tannic grit; but ready for drinking now or over the next three years. Very good value. Score - 90. (David Lawrason, winealign.com, May 2013)
