Item Description
You’ve always wanted to visit the exclusive Athenaeum, a private club on Caltech’s campus.
The history of the Athenaeum is breathtaking. Envisioned by renowned astronomer George Ellery Hale and designed by noted architect Gordon B. Kaufmann, The Athenaeum was founded at Caltech to promote social, cultural, and intellectual exchange.
The first formal dinner was held in 1931. Three Nobel Prize winners, Albert Einstein, Robert A. Millikan, and A.A. Michelson, attended that dinner.
This is your chance to be a part of history. You and a guest will enjoy a marvelous dinner, made with fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients (many from The Athenaeum’s own garden or Olive Walk), while you marvel at the building’s beautiful “California style” architecture. You might even be seated next to Nobel laureate faculty members!
You'll then cap off your special evening with an overnight stay for two (2) at the club's Einstein Suite, named in honor of Albert Einstein, who was a visiting scientist at Caltech on several occasions. Soak in the history as you relax in the lovely wood-paneled living room or on the suite-wide patio that overlooks the Olive Walk.
