Item Description
This item entitles the winning bidder to a beginner level knitting, crocheting or spinning class at Article Pract on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland, CA.
Try your hand at some fun and interesting needlecraft at Article Pract, a a shop whose goal is not just to sell yarn and needles but also to be a gallery for local crafty folks to sell their wares. Voted Best of the East Bay by the East Bay Express.
The shop is currently split into two halves—the fore section is devoted to yarn, needles, patterns, books, accessories, and handmade goodies. The aft section of the shop is a large sunny room where we offer all our fantastic classes.
Sample class descriptions:
BEGINNING KNITTING:
Learn how to cast on, cast off, knit, purl, and follow a pattern. This class is perfect for those who want to knit scarves, ponchos, hats, pillows, blankets—any of a variety of basic garments and items. Materials: two skeins/balls of worsted weight yarn (ex. Cascade 220 or Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted) & US size 8 or 9 needles, preferably bamboo straights. Instructions and pattern will be provided. Registered students receive 15% off class materials.
BEGINNING CROCHET
Crochet is fast and fun. In this two-part class you'll learn the basic stitches while making a cute stuffed bunny and also start a crocheted scarf. We will cover chain stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet.
Materials: 200 yards smooth worsted or aran weight yarn and a size F or G crochet hook, plus darning needle, removable stitch markers and sharp scissors. Bunny pattern and stuffing will be provided as part of the class. Registered students receive 15% off class materials.
