Item Description
This item was donated by Shannon Stoner from Portland, Oregon.
A conk is a "shelf mushroom" that grows on the side of trees. The white foamy pad of each conk provides a natural canvas to work with. Each conk is hand picked in the Pacific Northwest by the Shannon. Once a conk is dried (a 4-6 week process) it becomes completely petrified. Shannon then hand etches her original artwork onto the petrified conk. Lastly, she glazes the conk to bring out each natural layer in the wood and to service as an extra sealant.
