Item Description

R Louisa Wismer is a Bucks County artist and art teacher, born and raised in North East Philly. She is a graduate of Moore College of Art and Design, where she majored in Textile Design. She worked in Textile Design in New York City, before marrying and raising her family in Bucks County.
An art teacher for almost 40 years, Louisa teaches in her own studio, night schools, and various centers. She teaches all media, and enjoys seeing students explore and experiment with color and different mediums to discover their hidden talents.
Louisa has been commissioned to work on many local community projects, and also volunteers her talent to many worthy endeavors. Louisa is a member of the Doylestown Art League, where she serves as the Education Chairman. She is also a member of the Perkiomen Art League. She teaches group art classes at The Peak Center on Tuesdays.
Louisa was commissioned to participate in the Miles of Mules public art project in eastern Pennsylvania in 2003. She recently completed a third mural for St. Cyril's of Jerusalem Church in Jamison, PA. Two murals, Good Shepherd and Jesus and the Children, are in the narthex of the church; the third, Jesus as a Boy with Joseph and Mary, is in the Children's Room.
Louisa's art has been a blessing to her; a constant and faithful companion throughout the raising of her children, and the loss of her husband. She thanks God for this gift.
