Item Description
When orchard trees have served their time and no longer produce, they are removed to make room for new trees. From one of these trees came this board. It was cut at the graft line where English (Persian) Walnut was grafted into a Black Walnut rootstock for planting. This is done due to pests in the soil that are harmful to the English but not the Black Walnut roots. It is a unique piece as there are two very distinct grain patters from the different species that have grown as one as the trees matured. It has been treated with a natural combination of beeswax, palmwax and food-grade mineral oil. Handcrafted by Greenwood Dad and substitute teacher - Kevin Anderson.
Every auction there are one or two really special items - this is one of those pieces. On display at Greenwood - you will want to see this, then you will want to own this.
