Item Description

From highly collected Cape Cod artist, Steve Allrich. Oil painting, 28x22, of Blackfish Creek. Excellent condition.

Steve is a graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where he studied with artist Eugene Hall, painting figures and portraits directly from life, as well as landscapes on location. Plein air painting quickly became Steve’s passion, and the focus of his work. Painting outdoors, Steve strives to capture a feeling of light and a sense of place while maintaining a fresh and spontaneous approach. These location pieces are also often used as inspiration for larger studio works.

From The Copley Society of Boston to Canyon Road in Santa Fe, Steve has exhibited his work in solo shows as well as invitational and juried exhibitions, and won dozens of awards. He was featured on Boston Channel 5's Chronicle: Cape Light; Cape Cod as seen through the eyes of five artists, and his book, Oil Painting for the Serious Beginner (Watson-Guptill Publications) has sold over 50,000 copies. Steve has taught classes and workshops in figure and landscape painting since 1983. He currently teaches classes and workshops through the Creative Arts Center in Chatham. Contact CAC for more information.

Steve is also a screenwriter. His movie The Canyon premiered at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood in 2009. Bad Karma, his second film, was released on DVD in the fall of 2012, and The Timber, recently filmed in Romania, is currently in post-production. He has several other film projects in various stages of development.
