Item Description

Star Trek's Mr. Spock and The Pops!   If you haven't been to Symphony Hall, GO! Top tier price Orchestra seats! Section 5, row G, seats 1, 2, and 3.

Enjoy a Boston Pops performance with 2 other friends at Symphony Hall on Saturday, May 24, 2014, 8 p.m. of Out of This World with Leonard Nimoy.

Affectionately known as "America's Orchestra," the Boston Pops is the most recorded and arguably the most beloved orchestra in the country, beginning with the establishment of the modern-era Pops by Arthur Fiedler and continuing through the innovations introduced by John Williams and the new-millennium Pops spearheaded by Keith Lockhart.

"The Boston Pops Orchestra performs the best music of the past and present, appealing to the widest possible audience with a broad spectrum of styles, from jazz to pop, indie rock to big band, film music to the great American songbook, and Broadway to classical, making it the perfect orchestra for people who don't know they like orchestras!" -Keith Lockhart

Guest conductor Sarah Hicks, Principal Pops Conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra, makes her Boston Pops debut leading an "out of this world" program featuring music inspired by outer space, hosted by the legendary original Mr. Spock, Leonard Nimoy. Music will include Holst's The Planets (performed alongside a NASA film), the theme from Star Trek, the classical works (Also Sprach Zarathustra and Blue Danube Waltz) popularized in 2001:A Space Odyssey, and John Williams's intergalactic music from Star WarsE.T., and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Leonard Nimoy's success in the "Star Trek" series gained him worldwide recognition. Debuting in 1966, Nimoy's character, Mr. Spock, became an icon. His portrayal of the Vulcan earned him three Emmy nominations. After Star Trek he appeared on "Mission Impossible" for two seasons and then embarked on a varied and busy career in TV, stage and films.
