A native of Texas, Mary Victoria Kerr is one of the up-and-coming young flutists in New York City. Recently, she was named as a First Prize Winner for the Alexander and Buono International Flute Competition where she performed her solo debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. She has been a semi-finalist, finalist, and prize winner for such competitions as the Myrna Brown Competition, Concert Artist Guild International Competition, the New York Flute Club Young Artist Competition, and the winner of the El Paso Symphony Guild’s Young Artist Competition.
Active as an orchestral and chamber musician, Ms. Kerr has served as the principal flutist for the Texas Festival Orchestra, a substitute for the New World Symphony, and principal flutist for Novus New York in which she was featured on National Public Radio and Medici Television. Along with this, she has worked with such conductors as Carl St. Clair, Philippe Entremont, John Nelson, and composer/conductor John Williams.
Mary’s teachers have included Mary-Len Stanton, Melissa Colgin-Abeln, Jim Walker, Linda Chesis, and Carol Wincenc.
