Item Description

This is an Acrylic on Canvas 23 x 23 inch painting by estimed Alpana Ahuja, member of Singapore Art Society. Alpana collaborates with 'Phoolkali ',a rescued elephant who now lives at the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Centre to create stunning images on canvas. Each footprint was created with tremendous patience, subject entirely to Phoolkali's decision to participate in the process-largely influenced by bananas and other treats. These unique prints represent the impact the elephants have on Alpana as an artist while illustrating her positive and forward-looking journey. Her time with the rescued elephants at the WSOS sanctuary have taught her that love and kindness can heal elephants.

Alpana Ahuja's collection is a culmination of her fascination with Lord Ganesha and his numerous manifestations which she has painted lovingly over the years. Her artistic journey is inspired by the elephants at Wildlife SOS. Their fluid movement, gigantic but graceful body and soft gentle eyes amalgamate onto her canvas.

"As they say the journey is more enjoyable and the company we have makes it all worthwhile. My time spent with Phoolkali on this creative journey was a unique experience and her careful cooperation is really appreciated. She never ever stepped on any one of us even though we were all under her and in a vulnerable position. This gentle giant gave me the same foot for every painting and I amazed at the variety we created. Of course I had to be ready with my colour palette, quickly deciding what colour to spread on her offered foot. The results are for all of you to view."
