Item Description
Last year, Toast — which began its life as a wine bar — brought aboard Zuni Cafe vet Rebecca Boice as its executive chef. This year, Toast is commandeering the space next door, essentially doubling in size, though it will remain open during construction. The added room will allow for a shiny cocktail lounge and an actual built-out kitchen featuring new amenities like a fryer, a freezer, and you know, gas. The full liquor license and cocktails have been in effect already, including their barrel-aged dry Negroni, but the cocktail menu will be expanded to put an emphasis on American whiskey. The new space will become general seating for meal service, while the current space will become the bar/lounge area, with a small bites bar menu.
All these new things have also spurred new name: Toast Kitchen + Bar.
And here’s another little tidbit. When they unveil the expanded version of Toast in the first few weeks of May, you might recognize the newly installed booths. They are reclaimed from a little bygone place named Fog City Diner.
