Q. When should I book my trip?
Unlike most auction trips, the expiration is not until 2 years from the date of purchase. Most people book their reservations at least 3-6 months or more in advance and popular times to visit are May thru November. September, October and November are the busiest seasons.

Q. How do I book my trip?
Photo Safari Coordinators from the lodge can be contacted by phone or email. Contact Veena or Reshmi at hvjoory@mweb.co.za or call
011 27 35-562-0177.

Q. How would I get there?
Airfare is not included in the package. Travelers fly from USA into
Johannesburg, South Africa. From Johannesburg, the best option is to take another flight into Richard’s Bay. When you arrive at Richard’s Bay, you have the option to either rent a car or it can be arranged for you to be picked up by someone from the lodge at an additional cost. It is a 1hr 20 mins drive from Richards Bay to Zulu Nyala. The second option is to fly into Durban and drive to Zulu Nyala, which is a +/-3 hours drive. The Safari Coordinators can give you more information on traveling to the lodge.

Q. Can you suggest a travel agency or consultant?
The lodge recommends Discover Africa, a travel agency that specializes in Southern Africa. They are located in Ohio. Friendly experienced travel agents can be reached at info@discoverafrica.net or 1-888-330-4880. Please note that this is just a recommendation.

Q. Do the prices include gratuity?
Tips and gratuity are not included; you are welcome to trip the game ranger and the general staff.

Medical
There are excellent private medical practitioners in most towns and a top class hospital at nearby Richards Bay. Malaria is endemic to the area and it’s advisable to take precautions especially in the summer months. Consult a doctor or pharmacist (www.cdc.gov/travel). It is advisable to use a mosquito spray or cream for the outdoors especially at night.

Q. Currency and Banking
The currency in South Africa is Rand. There are banks with foreign exchange services and automatic teller machines at Hluhluwe and most of the towns. Larger establishments accept most international credit cards and travelers checks but cash is preferred when buying at smaller shops. 14% Value Added Tax is charged on most purchased goods and services however tourists can claim refunds of Value Added Taxes paid for goods (not services) when exiting
the country – information is available at the international airports.

Q. Where does the lodge’s name (Zulu Nyala) come from?
Zulu is the name of a tribe. Many members work at the lodge, and you can also tour their village if you want. They live in ethnic surroundings, and sell many handmade items. A Nyala is an animal with long hair on its neck and back. The Nyala is a very unique species. The lodge is known for having a very large herd
of Nyalas.

Q. What are the amenities at Zulu Nyala

2. Computer and internet services are available at the reception area.
3 Laundry facilities

Q. What is the Zulu Nyala lodging like?
There are four lodgings that are available and it is suggested to spend 3 nights at 2 different locales as it really allows you to enjoy the fun and flavor of Zulu Nyala.
- The Heritage tented campsites are personal bungalows all nested
together in a charming campsite.
- The Zulu Nyala game lodge fills up quickly so plan ahead.
- Ndlovu and Nyati lodges are ideal for groups of 9 or 6 couples
respectively.

Regardless of which lodge you choose, you are certain to enjoy the ambiance and considerate service by a wonderful staff. All lodges have swimming pools and the Game Lodge has a tennis court.

Q. How will we view the animals?
For animal viewing you will be in open land rovers that accommodate 12 to 14 people plus your guide. The guides are young, dynamic, extremely knowledgeable and go out of their way to design viewing times to your benefit and pleasure. The two daily trips can be 2-4 hours in duration depending on your wishes. Be sure to ask for a night ride one evening, no extra charge. It’s fun to
check out the watering holes at night.

Q. What is the procedure for game drives?
Upon your arrival at Zulu Nyala, you will be assigned to a host ranger. He or she will be your chauffeur on the game drives, and will be available to answer any questions that you may have concerning animals and activities. There are two game drives per day included in the Photo Safari auction package.

Q. What language is spoken there?
The main language is English. Many of the local people only speak Zulu, but are able to communicate with English speakers well enough to sell things to them.
