Williams Selyem Winery, Healdsburg

Enjoy a private tour, tasting and gourmet picnic lunch for two. The winery is not open to the public, hosting invited guests only. You will be hosted by one of the winemakers, as you get a behind-the-scenes look at the winery that has set a new standard for Pinot Noir winemaking in the United States.

Founded in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley, Williams Selyem has been making distinctive Pinot Noirs from this area since 1981.  In less than two decades, the winery has achieved cult-status and garnered international acclaim. While Williams Selyem production has expanded to include nearby appellations and small offerings of Chardonnay and Zinfandel as well, these wines along with their flagship Pinot Noirs are still extremely limited in production. A limited number of cases are released each year to a select group of the country’s finest restaurants, with the remainder of the allocation available only to members of The WS List.  You will receive a spot and allocation on the Williams Selyem Wine List, giving you priority to purchase new releases without the traditional period on the waiting list.

The winemaking torch has been passed from the original owners into the skillful hands of a carefully selected team headed by Director of Winemaking, Bob Cabral, named Winemaker of the Year for 2011 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. These artisans respect and employ the original handcrafted approach to winemaking that has made Williams Selyem wines so sought after today. On the standing commitment to extraordinary quality at the winery, Bob says, “We respect the grower, the vineyard, we respect the fruit coming in and we take care of the process tenaciously with minimal interference. We exercise patience at every stage and I have to say, we are richly rewarded for that. We like to share those rewards with the people who love our wines.” Over $18 million dollars was spent building this state-of-the-art winery, which is now considered one of Sonoma County’s architectural gems.  In 2013, Williams Selyem Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir received Wine & Spirits “Year’s Best Pinot Noir” award.

Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen, Healdsburg

Enjoy a VIP eight-course dinner with wine pairings, prepared exclusively for your party of two. Chef De Cuisine and Healdsburg native Dustin Valette will make a personal visit to your table and craft an elegant menu from Sonoma County’s finest seasonal ingredients to complement the region’s distinctive wines. Valette incorporates the finest local seasonal ingredients into specialties such as broiled Miyagi oysters with caramelized onion biscuits and coriander-crusted duck breast with fig compote. The wine pairings exemplify the symbiotic relationship of wine and cuisine. Dry Creek Kitchen’s wine cellar reflects the area’s celebrated appellations, featuring more than 600 Sonoma wines with vintages ranging from 1985 to 2011 and a particular emphasis on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Meritage Blends. Charlie Palmer’s long standing commitment to wine manifests itself in his one-of-kind-collection drawing from the private libraries and cellars of the area’s winemakers. Not available on major holiday weekends.
