Item Description

Spend a day learning how New Hampshire's fastest-growing city serves the needs of its people and businesses: both day-to-day and in the form of its long-term master plan. Christopher Parker AICP, Director of Planning for the city of Dover, will guide one high school (or college) student through a day in the city's planning department. The student will have the opportunity to learn about land use and planning, zoning, economic development, environmental conservation, municipal budget planning, long-term community planning, and more, all in the context of publicly-driven policy and planning initiatives.

Anyone interested in public service - whether as an employee or elected official - would benefit greatly from seeing how long-term policies are planned and implemented at a local level. If the student has specific areas of interest, Director Parker will work with the student to select a mutually agreeable day for the best exposure to their interests.

Item Special Note

The winning bidder will be provided contact information/be contacted by Director Parker to arrange a mutually agreeable date (based in part on student interests) for the job shadow.
