Item Description

We are thrilled to offer you two incredible bottles of red from Relic Wine Cellars; shout out to the lovely and multi-talented Annette Summersett for arranging this contribution!

Relic was started in 2001 with just a few barrels of Pinot Noir and have since continued to mine history for the old secrets in the making of Rhone varietals, Bordeaux varietals, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, creating modern and vibrant wines.

ABOUT THE 2011 RITUAL RED (NAPA VALLEY)

47% Mourvedre, 22% Carignane, 13% Grenache, 11% Syrah, 7% Petite Sirah

"The 2011 Ritual is our fifth vintage of this wine and again a rock star of our portfolio! The wine jumps from the glass with a mélange of red fruits, potpourri and orchids, hinting at the palate to come. The mouthfeel is round and rich, with beautiful acidity providing focus and shape to the ripe flavors of raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, sage, violet and cracked pepper. The finish is powerful and long, and shows the delicate tannins and easy drinkability - the magic potion that is Ritual. Unfined and unfiltered. 18 barrels produced."

ABOUT THE 2011 KASHAYA PINOT NOIR (SONOMA COAST)

100% Pinot Noir

"2011 was a fantastic year for our Kashaya vineyard. This wine shows an amazingly distinct and delicious complexity, illustrating the sense of place and distinction of character that is the 'true' Sonoma Coast. The soils here are a mixture of coastal shale and sandy loam deposits, providing tons of complexity. The clone 115 brought a delicious core of black cherry and baking spice, while the Old Wente Pinot contributed elements of rose petal and lychee and assorted floral characteristics. Pommard clone is the icing on the cake, yielding a wine of depth, focus and length with dark sweet fruits, balanced by vibrancy and beautiful floral aromatics. The wine was fermented with native yeast and aged on the lees until bottling after 11 months in barrel."
