Item Description
Special thank you to the gracious Katie Leonardini from Whitehall Lane Winery who has supported TEACHED in many ways from the get-go. Whitehall Lane is a beautiful place to visit and the wines are simply oustanding. We are so lucky to have them included in our auction again this year.
ABOUT THE WINERY
We are a small, family owned winery in Napa Valley's historic Rutherford appellation. We own approximately 140 acres of prime Valley-floor vineyards including the Leonardini Vineyard in St. Helena and are committed to making the finest Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Reserve wine.
Whitehall Lane was founded in 1979 but the history of the soil cultivation dates back two centuries. In the mid 1800's, Napa Valley settlers were drawn to the deep, loamy soils and ideal climate, planting high quality grape vines at the Whitehall Lane Winery site. A barn constructed in the early 1900's for equipment storage is still used today. In 1979, two brothers started the winery and directed their winemaking efforts successfully to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. They named the winery after the road that runs along the south border of the property, Whitehall Lane.
Whitehall Lane Winery 2011 Carneros Chardonnay
A rich, creamy and complex chardonnay with lively acidity, tropical fruit flavors and french oak all beautifully integrated.
Whitehall Lane Winery 2009 Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec, 2% Petite Verdot
About the wine:
The Reserve Cabernet program was started at Whitehall Lane Winery in 1984. Since that time, fruit primarily from the Rutherford and St. Helena appellations has been ‘Reserve’ designated. The 2009 vintage is primarily a blend of the winery’s Fawn Park Vineyard, Millennium MM Vineyard and Leonardini Vineyard fruit. The small amounts of Malbec and Petite Verdot add color, depth and complexity to this classic offering. The wine was aged in 80% French and 20% American oak barrels for 25 months and was bottled in December 2011.
NOTES:
This deep wine has inviting aromas of berry and toasty oak with flavors of cassis, dark berry and hints of mocha and cedar. Understated toasty oak and supple tannins beautifully frame the gorgeous ripe fruit. Enjoy this wine through 2020.
