Item Description

Villa Cappelli sits majestically on the ancient Via Appia in the town of Terlizzi, just northwest of Bari in the region of Puglia. It is just 20 minutes from the Bari Palese airport and approximately 7 miles from the Adriatic Sea. Here you'll have an unforgettable, authentic time in a truly special part of Italy. Relax and enjoy immersing yourself in Italian indulgence — the food, the people, the fun — as so many have before you. In fact, members of the British Royal family have stayed here as has the music group, Elbow.

No one is quite sure when the villa first sprung up but some historians believe the garden to have begun as a 13th century monastic garden. The “farm” buildings on the property probably date to the 14th and 15th centuries. The newest additions were probably built in the 17th or 18th centuries. One peculiar location in the villa is believed to be pre-Christian.

The land, filled with fossils from 10 million years ago, is covered by ancient olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees. The entire villa is completely enclosed by an 18 ft. wall and features a formal half-acre garden planted almost exclusively with citrus trees, roses and lavender.

The villa, owned and operated by a gay couple, also features 10 bedrooms and 6 full baths and is able to accommodate at least 20 guests, so it's perfect for families and groups traveling together.

The entire structure is about 22,000 sq ft (2000 sq m) and includes lots of common spaces.  There are also reading rooms, an enormous full kitchen complete with a wood-burning brick oven, an extraordinary large terrace with magnificent views, and a loggia that overlooks the luxurious 40x20 ft pool (12x6 metres).

During your stay, you'll have use of a washer, fridge, dishwasher, and microwave. Maid service as well as shopping and cooking services are also available for an additional fee.  There is also a large screen TV, an extensive DVD collection, a library, a ping pong table and free wi-fi.  We can also help arrange biking and other tours, for an additional fee, upon request.

No matter what you decide to do — tour the beautiful neighboring towns, explore the countryside, or just sit by the pool — you’re sure to have a sweet time doing it.
