Item Description
Concord, MA was home to Ralph Waldo Emerson -- an American essayist, lecturer, and poet, Emerson led the Transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century.
Emerson was a man of radical ideas and personal grace who devoted his life to a search for the highest spiritual, ethical and natural truths, and struggled to apply his ideas and insights to the cultural, social and political issues of his time.
His home in Concord is now a museum and a National Historic Landmark. It is where he wrote his famous essays "The American Scholar", "Self Reliance" and where he entertained family, friends and guests, including Louisa May Alcott and Henry David Thoreau.
The museum is open Thursday-Sunday and opens for the season on April 25.
