Item Description
Observe Okpara, (Okie), the western lowland gorilla who currently resides at Franklin Park Zoo's Tropical Forest, in his creative process. Choose from a variety of colors and watch as he creates a masterpiece just for you!
Okie began to finger paint when he was 12 years old as an enrichment exercise designed to provide intellectual stimulation. His medium is non-toxic finger paints on paper.
Item Special Note
Behind-the-scenes tours where animals are present must adhere to the following restrictions.
- Please schedule tours at least two weeks in advance.
- Guest must be 12 years of age or older or accompanied by an adult.
- For every 4 guests between the ages of 12 and 18, there must be one adult. The guide may count as one of those adults.
- No more than 6 guests may go behind the scenes at one time.
- We strongly recommend that you do not wear open-toe shoes. When visiting behind the scenes you will be asked to dip the soles of your shoes in a disinfectant foot bath to protect the animals.
- Most behind-the-scenes areas have steps and other obstacles that could not accommodate wheelchairs.
- Video taping and still photography behind the scenes is prohibited.
