Take yourself and 11 friends to the wonderfully inviting Buvette. Chef Jody Williams' gastrothèque serves delicious Gallic small plates all day, so there is always a reason for a visit. A white marble dining counter set before polished stemware and bottles of wine dominates the petite, brick-walled room. Everthing seems alive with chatter and jazz.
Buvette's snacks focus on French classics, as in silken batons of leek drizzled with stimulating Dijon vinaigrette; or a croque forestier, filled with béchamel, oven-dried tomato, wild mushrooms, and Gruyère seasoned with herbes de Provence. It goes without saying that a glass of wine is practically mandatory, say a flinty Bourgogne aligoté chosen off the blackboard selection, framed within the outline of France?
