Item Description
Dmitry Grudsky, Bay Area mosaic artist and art teacher, creates sculptures for private commissions, public art and community projects. His work is exhibited nationally and internationally, and has been accepted into the Society of American Mosaic Artists' International Jury Show. He instructs at the Institute of Mosaic Art in Oakland and other Bay Area locations.
Speaking of mosaic art, Grudsky says, "Forms found in Nature such as mountains, water, trees and animals, inspire my sculptures. I combine ancient Byzantine mosaic techniques, stained glass, mural painting and relief to create art that is rich and textural. For me, sculpture is a three-dimensional poem, and I express the feelings of people and place through art. My mosaics connect people to their surroundings in new ways."
