Item Description

Explore Atwater Village! It's a diverse and wonderful neighborhood in Los Angeles located in the northeast region of the city, Atwater borders Griffith Park and Silver Lake to the west, Glendale to the north and east, and Glassell Park to the south.

This package includes: From our friends at Jacknife Records & Tapes, the following first edition cassettes (limited to 300 copies) The Sugarman Three & Company - Pure Cane Sugar, The Mighty Imperials- Thunder Chicken, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kinds - Dap Dippin' and My Hawaii. Collectors items for sure!

Jacknife Records & Tapes on Glendale Boulevard joins independent vinyl record retailers in Eagle Rock, Echo Park, Highland Park and Silver Lake.  Jacknife, named after a 1965 jazz album,  is owned by Los Feliz resident David Gunderson, who is taking a break from his film industry job by pursuing a life long dream of opening a record shop. The narrow storefront is stocked with a portion of the 3,000 records Gunderson has amassed over 25 years. “You just can’t keep all this stuff in a normal-sized house,” Gunderson said of the vinyl records, which include rock, jazz, country, and other music.

In addition to vintage vinyl, Jacknife also stocks cassette, eight-track and reel-to-reel tapes.  “People with old cars come in looking for cassettes,”  Gunderson said. Records include some hard-to-find and obscure albums, including the 1971 debut by the German group Faust ($120) and “90 Minutes in Hell” by Charles Bukowski ($95).

Also included is a gift card to Indochine Vien - $20 for amazing, authentic Vietnamese Cuisine in Atwater...AND $20 gift card to the wonderful Bon Vivant where it feels more like a country home than a restaurant, with its stone walls, plush sofas, and dangling curtains. An ideal community hub divided between share tables, two-tops, and four-tops, the restaurant, full bar, and market solves lunch and dinner dilemmas, but also serves as a place to grab salumi, prosciutto, or cheese for that next dinner party. Refrigerated cases offer the like, in addition to prepared foods such as French beans with hazelnuts, deviled eggs with anchovy, and lentil salad. As if that weren't enough, there's also a small plate a la carte menu by chef Bill Annesely.
