Item Description
Through their immersion in Greek mythology, astronomy, architecture, math, and science, the fourth grade students have learned and continue to learn about classical Greek culture and history. Now they have collaborated to create unique Greek pottery to display in your home or use for serving food. Ancient Greek pottery came in many different shapes and sizes, depending on its purpose, and was often beautifully adorned with scenes from daily life. Greek pottery was not only aesthetically appealing, but also functional, because it illustrated life in Athens and other ancient Greek cities. Two lucky families will win these hand-drawn and decorated serving dishes, upon which each child has lovingly created his or her favorite Greek hero, god, or goddess. Fourth grade students have also signed the serving pieces in Palmer, Spencerian, and italic script. Special thanks to Matt Berman, Lori Mustille, Lora Saarnio, Margie Gurvich, Mei Chen, Shashi Deb, Ann Green, Lena Hwang, and Kara Park.
