Diane Coburn Bruning, Chamber Dance Project’s artistic director, leads a fascinating day that traces the evolution of the art of ballet from its roots in 16th-century France to today’s contemporary expressions. This Smithsonian seminar includes an interactive afternoon studio session featuring the company’s dancers and musicians—and you get to try your hand at shaping some movement in a ballet created and performed on the spot.
