Item Description
Framed, transparent watercolor seascape. Painted by local artist John Byram www.johnbyram.com.
John Byram paints heuristically, allowing pieces to develop spontaneously through the action of paint, water and paper . . . and then he reacts to that!
Is the painter orchestrating the painting or the painting leading the painter? For John, the art is in striking a balance: between tight and loose brushwork; between what's deliberate and what almost paints itself; between delineating an image and letting the chaos of the medium impart interpretation. It's this conflated beauty--of the subjects around us and of direct washes on paper--that is his motivation.
John is a member of the Mid Valley Arts League. He has exhibited his watercolors at the Mohave County and Southwest Museums, the Alhambra and Temple City Civic Centers and the Acorn Gallery in Los Angeles. His work is represented in several private and public collections. He has studied with several notable aquarellists, including Robert S. Oliver, Fealing Lin and Robert J. Uecker.
