Item Description
Yves-Marie Le Gouaz (1742-1816) was a French engraver in the Académie des Sciences. His body of work represented the ports of France has been featured at auctions including Christie's. This framed work is an engraving of the painting, "Le Choix du Poisson," by Joseph-Claude Vernet (1714-1789), a celebrated maritime and landscape painter. Beautifully inscribed: "Dédié à Monsieur le Comte de la Billardrie d'Angivillet Mestre de Camp de la Cavalerie, Ancien Gentilhomme de la Manche Enfans de France, Chevalier de l'Ordre Militaire de St. Louis, et de celui de St. Lazare." This antique is in excellent condition and color; it is framed, 21.25" by 24.75".
