About the Artist:
James draws upon the inspiration of the tranquil views of rural Pennsylvania. Having grown up in Chester County, he is familiar with it's weathered structures of wood and stone, it's barns, stables, and historic settings, some dating to revolutionary times.
Working in the spontaneity of watercolor, in the tradition of his father, or the versatility of acrylic, James presents a sense of realism and presence in his paintings. Careful attention is given to subtle details, enhancing the impression of the selected moment.
An interest in drawing since childhood widened into painting in later years. He studied at the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia, and after some years involved in commercial art, he has pursued his interest in painting. James exhibits in numerous shows and galleries, and is producing limited edition reproductions of selected pieces. His paintings hang in both private and corporate collections.
